For the first time, it also includes links to short movies offering explanations about defense policy, as the Defense Ministry looks to reach a broader audience ahead of a planned revision of the nation¡¯s three key security documents this year.?
¡°The security environment surrounding our country today is the most severe and complex since the end of the war,¡± Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi writes in a preface to the report. ¡°Even in East Asia, we cannot rule out the possibility of a serious situation occurring that could shake the foundations of the stable international order established after the war.¡±
