A man from Kyoto has filed a lawsuit against a hospital in the city, claiming that his estranged wife presented someone else¡¯s sperm as his and was able to undergo successful fertility treatment using it without his awareness.
The man is seeking damages of ?11 million ($69,000) from the hospital for failing to perform sufficient confirmation before conducting the treatment.
At the first hearing of the suit at the Kyoto District Court on Wednesday, the hospital sought a dismissal, saying that it had provided the necessary explanations regarding the treatment.
