Japanese sprinters Yoshihide Kiryu, Yuhi Mori and Abdul Hakim Sani Brown all failed to make it out of the heats in men¡¯s 100 meters at the?? World Athletics Championships, which kicked off at National Stadium in Tokyo on Saturday.
Veteran sprinter Kiryu, part of Japan¡¯s silver medal-winning 4x100 relay team at the 2016 Rio Olympics, was fifth in his heat with a time of 10.28 seconds. The heat was won by U.S. superstar Noah Lyles at 9.95. The men's semifinals and final are scheduled for Sunday night.
¡°The plan was to make it through the semifinals and then fight it out in the final, but that plan fell apart already in the heats, so I feel bad for not running a good race,¡± Kiryu said.
