The Tsukui Yamayuri-en residential facility for those with disabilities in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, hosted visitors who came on Sunday to mark ten years since a mass stabbing attack there that left 19 people dead and 26 injured.

Despite intense heat and occasional torrential downpours accompanied by thunder, visitors placed flowers at an offering stand set up in front of a memorial monument and paid tribute to the 19 people who lost their lives in the attack.

A memorial ceremony was held the previous day at a larger venue in Sagamihara, to accommodate more participants, according to the prefectural government, one of the event¡¯s organizers. Bereaved family members, residents and staff connected with the facility, as well as Gov. Yuji Kuroiwa, attended the ceremony.
