Japan¡¯s princesses are potentially facing life-changing legal revisions to their status from a set of bills that propose giving them the option of staying in the imperial family after marriage and carrying on with their official duties, instead of becoming commoners.

The million-dollar question is, would they want to?

The flip side of the story is that future princesses would not be able to leave the royal family even after they get married, essentially eliminating the option that current princesses have ¡ª to get out of the limelight and live a normal life like former princesses who are currently living as Sayako Kuroda and Mako Komuro.
