More and more older Japanese people in their post-retirement life are choosing to take up short-term resort jobs, particularly those with accommodation included. While such work is popular among young people, the number of retirees joining their ranks has grown in recent years.
In late January, at Daisen White Resort, a ski resort in the town of Daisen, Tottori Prefecture, a man called out cheerfully to skiers as he helped them get off a ski lift one after another.
¡°Watch your step! Enjoy!¡± said Iwao Tanaka, who is from Hiroshima, as he greeted them.
