The leader of Taiwan's largest opposition party, ?the Kuomintang (KMT), has accepted an invitation from Chinese leader Xi Jinping to visit China in April, a visit that would come about a month before a planned trip to Beijing by U.S. President Donald Trump.
¡°The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and General-Secretary Xi Jinping have invited KMT Chairwoman Cheng Li-wun to lead a delegation on a visit to the mainland,¡± the KMT said Monday, adding that Cheng had ¡°expressed her gratitude for the invitation¡± and had ¡°gladly accepted it.¡±
China¡¯s official Xinhua News Agency also confirmed the invitation to Cheng ¡°to visit the Chinese mainland from April 7 to 12.¡±
