Tokyo police arrested four men on Monday, including the producer of the seven-female-member artist group XG, on suspicion of violating narcotics laws, investigative sources said.
The 39-year-old producer, Junho Sakai, known as Simon, and three others were allegedly found in possession of a bag of cocaine at a hotel in Aichi Prefecture at around 12:20 a.m. on Monday, according to investigative sources.
Police also arrested two employees of entertainment conglomerate Avex ¡ª Yudai Hasegawa, 38, and Noritoshi Yanagawa, 51 both residents of Tokyo¡¯s Setagaya Ward.
Police seized four bags of white powder believed to be cocaine and one bag of plant matter believed to be dried cannabis from the room. All items were found on a table.
XG, which is currently on a world tour, just performed in Nagoya on Sunday. The division in charge of drugs and firearms at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department police has been investigating the case after receiving an anonymous tip in March last year.
