The former chairman of publishing giant Kadokawa was sentenced to two years and six months in prison, suspended for four years, Thursday over bribes linked to sponsorship contracts for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
Tsuguhiko Kadokawa, 82, was found guilty by the Tokyo District Court of bribing a former senior official of the Tokyo Olympic organizing committee.
In Thursday¡¯s ruling, presiding Judge Yoshihisa Nakao said, ¡°This crime undermines trust in the fairness of the organizing committee officials and the fair running of the Games and its integrity, which were created through many people¡¯s efforts.¡±
