Of all the words and phrases used to try and put Shohei Ohtani's superhuman feats into a perspective understood by mere mortals, there is one that is becoming increasingly common around this time of the year: Most Valuable Player.

The Los Angeles Dodgers¡¯ two-way superstar was named National League MVP for the second straight season by the Baseball Writers¡¯ Association of America on Thursday. Ohtani was the unanimous selection for the award for the second straight season, and claimed the honor over fellow finalists Kyle Schwarber, of the Philadelphia Phillies, and New York Mets slugger Juan Soto.

"It's such a great honor," Ohtani said on MLB Network. "Soto and Schwarber also had amazing seasons, and I was happy to compete against such great players."
