Tsunan Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tsunan Town, Nakauonuma District, Niigata Prefecture; President: Kengo Suzuki) announces the start of sales for its seasonal winter product, the “GO & Snow (GOSETSU) Set,” an annual limited offering inspired by the arrival of deep winter snowfall in Tsunan Town, Niigata Prefecture—one of the snowiest regions in the world. On December 26, full-scale snowfall began in Tsunan Town, Niigata Prefecture, home to Tsunan Sake Brewery.

Tsunan Town is internationally known for its extraordinary snowfall. Each year, snow accumulates to depths of around three meters, and in particularly heavy years, nearly four meters. During winter, Tsunan Sake Brewery truly becomes a “sake brewery buried in snow.”

This snow, however, is an essential natural blessing that supports our sake brewing.
Snow purifies the air by removing dust, maintains a cold and humid environment inside the brewery, and enables precise fermentation control. The clear, refined taste of Tsunan Sake Brewery’s sake is born precisely because of this heavy-snow environment.

Sharing Snow as a Positive Gift — The 4th Winter of the “GO & Snow Set”
The “GO & Snow Set” was created with the desire to share the blessings of snow with people across Japan.

While heavy snowfall can sometimes make daily life challenging, for us it is the very foundation of sake brewing. We wanted to present snow not as something negative, but as something positive. With this vision, the project was launched in 2022 as a unique experience that delivers both Tsunan’s snow and its sake together. This winter marks the fourth year of the initiative.

Customers are invited to dig through real snow packed inside the box to discover the sake hidden within—an experience unique to one of Japan’s heaviest snowfall regions.

A sake brewery located in a remote region known for heavy snowfall, Tsunan Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. is based in Tsunan Town, Nakauonuma District, Niigata, Japan—one of Japan’s foremost snowfall areas. The brewery uses natural spring water sourced from mountains rising to around 2,000 meters as its brewing water.
